Profitcast FeedburnerThis week, Profitcast is excited to welcome Erica Duran, of The Erica Duran Show (Freedom Based Luxury Lifestyle Design Radio)! The Real Brian and Erica talk about strategies to employ when taking your business completely online and how to seek a balance amongst your assets and your resources. We want you to see that there is so much waiting to be profited from and give you some parameters on how to achieve it.

There are a lot of quotable moments from Erica’s appearance on Profitcast, and her stories surrounding her venture into a freedom-based lifestyle make the one-liners very rich. I just want to lay down a couple thoughts on some of the highlights.

We all think we’re busy until we start working on the “right” things. How true is that! If you are frustrated, constantly working against the grain, and/or meeting roadblocks at every turn…maybe it’s time to take a step back, reassess and make sure that the things you’re working on are the things you should be working on. Brian is always saying how teaching and writing e-books are not his strengths, and I think that there is nothing wrong with acknowledging that or with the reality of those implications. He might be able to write an e-book, but it’s going to cost him significantly in one of those areas he is limited in (i.e. time).

For someone who’s strength is writing, or at least for someone who enjoys it, they will want to spend time on that task. Sometimes this means partnering up, like Brian and I have done. Writing blog posts is a stressor and a time consuming task for him. He can do it, but his time is better spent elsewhere. I think he’d be the first to tell you that since he hasn’t had to write blog posts anymore, he’s enjoyed each installment of Profitcast much more, from a production standpoint. It gives him the freedom to spend more time in his strengths.

We’re selling things to humans, so we need to talk to humans. It’s very easy to lose sight of this in our digital age. College graduates of the present generation have been connected to the internet nearly since they were born, but have, at the very least, used it throughout all of their education. Finding alternate ways to obtain information, other than speaking to someone face to face, has never been easier. But we’re telling you right now, if you want to make an impact, if you want the business of other humans, you’re going to have to get a little one-on-one time with them.

Luckily, Erica points out, this can be done in a variety of ways because of technology. Instead of using technology to ignore the existence of other humans…use it to connect! If podcasting has done nothing else, it should at the very least demonstrate how shared interests can unite people across continents. Practically every city I travel to there is a listener or a fellow host that I can meet. Just in the last two years I’ve been to Honolulu, Atlanta, San Jose, Chicago and New York, to name a few, and have met someone there whom I’ve only ever known online.

So use Skype, Google Hangouts, Facetime, or the old fashioned telephone to your advantage!

Once again, thank you Erica for being on Profitcast this week! We hope that you got as much out of this interview as we did. Enjoy!
